Iran short to vie at two Oscar qualifying festivals

Iran short ‘Like a Good Kid’ is set to vie at two Oscar qualifying festivals in Ireland and Albania.

‘Like a Good Kid’ by Arian Vazir Daftari will attend the 29th Foyle Film Festival in Ireland, scheduled for November 16-20, 2018.  

The Foyle Film Festival has been an Oscar affiliated festival since 1999, gaining British Academy of Film and Television Arts recognition in 2009.  

Vazir Daftari’s short film will also vie at the 16th Tirana International Film Festival in Albania, slated for November 2-9, 2018.    

Award recipients of the Tirana International Film Festival in Best Short Film section will be eligible for consideration in the Animated Short Film/Live Action Short Film category of the Academy Awards.

Produced by Majid Barzegar, the 20-minute flick tells the story of a 22-year-old babysitter named Sarah who looks after five-year-old Matin.

One day, Matin tells Sarah a story which makes her decide to steal from the house.

Shadi Karam-Roudi, Negar Abedi and Yazdan Kokabi-Saba star in the short.

‘Like a Good Kid’ has so far experienced a number of international film events, including Cinéfondation selection of Festival de Cannes in France, Huesca Int'l Film Festival in Spain, Int'l Documentary and Short Film Festival of Kerala in India, Sao Paulo Int'l Short Film Festival and Visioni Corte Int'l Short Film Festival in Italy.
